Born in a Manger

 manger
After reading through the story of Jesus Christ, how he was born, his family background, the environment in which he was born, I came to the conclusion that he was not born in a manger because his parents wanted to give birth to their first child in a unique way and in a different environment but because that was the situation that they could not change. A lot of Africans where born in one manger or the other but that was not what our parents choose but because those where the situations they couldn’t change at that time. Being born in a manger doesn’t mean that you should remain poor for life neither does it mean that you are inferior to those born in developed nations of the world but because that’s the plan.
There is no great glory without a great story, so any glory you see or hear about that does not have a story behind it is a fake glory. Born in a manger simply means to be born into poverty, it means to be born into stagnation, being born into frustration etc. I can remember vividly when I was growing up as a little child, I always ask myself while the creator created me and didn’t put me into the family of the great and affluent but into a very poor family where it was difficult to afford garri (roasted cassava meal) to drink, and a family where we couldn’t eat what we felt like eating. I felt God was partial, wicked, inconsiderate, and doesn’t exist because there were situations that made it look like there is no God.
But as I began to grow in knowledge, I began to understand that every one was born to fulfil a purpose here on earth. And life has to take you through some situations in order for you to experience what people you were sent to have experienced or are experiencing. For instance, the child of the richest man in your country cannot go to the slumps in his country to motivate the people there about what they are passing through. And even if he tries, there is the possibility that some of the poor people might not listen to him because he doesn’t understand what they are passing through because he wasn’t born in a manger.
Whenever I speak about poverty and entrepreneurship, I always sense this funny attitude among some of my listeners; that attitude where they think that I will not understand their plight and conditions. but that attitude always changes when I begin to share with them my poverty experiences. The manger experience has always been one of the things that spur most mangerite if I may call us, to succeed more in life. I always wonder how I would have been able to motivate and teach the poor people about entrepreneurship so that they can leave the poverty lane if I wasn’t born in a manger.
Don’t allow your environment or situations behind your birth to bring you down in your quest to succeed, never allow those that were born in duplexes and palaces to look down on you because of the wealth of their parents that they didn’t work for, you were born in a manger for a purpose and you must fulfil purpose if only you wont give up or allow your past to eat up your destiny. You have been programmed to survive that situations of your life, you can be great because that’s while you were created.
Be social share!

When the blinks turn blank

While driving in a taxi along a popular road in Benin City called akpakpava road, I saw a great hope for not just the state but for Africa at large. I saw the beauty and the doggedness exhibited by the people in their quest to succeed own their own. While in heaven (I was in heaven in my thought) I noticed that the car had stopped moving. I thought the taxi had developed a fault until I noticed that other cars at the front had stopped also. It was because of the traffic light. The light had shown red which meant that we should stop. After we left the traffic, I began to think about my own meaning of the lights (for your understanding, I create things in my mind a lot). I thought how the red light represents stagnation, poverty and unemployment. I saw how people waited in their cars to see the red light turn green. Some were sweating profusely while in their cars because some of the cars didn’t have air conditioners. Some used it as an opportunity to collect fares from their passengers; some were angry because they thought that the light should read faster and turn green.
As these events began to occur, I said to myself “there are people whose lights have turned red, whose life looks stagnant, and who are being mocked because of poverty and unemployment”. And I thought to myself, little did these people know that the light is just counting down and would soon turn green for a free flow of traffic. These thoughts gave me hopes. But still in my hope session, I thought also to myself “what if as the light is about to turn green the blinks turn blank?” what if the traffic light stops working thereby causing drivers to bump on one another.
Haven’t you experienced life to the extent where it seems like life was about to get better, when it seems like the day has finally come for you to sign that investment contract and then the date is postponed indefinitely?
But while still deep in my thoughts, a word came to me, a word that removed all my fears and doubts, a word that brought great hope. “Since the light can still be repaired, then there is hope”. It doesn’t matter where you think that blinks have turn blank, as far as there is still life in a man there is still hope for him to succeed in life.

Wonderfully or Fearfully Made

Are you wonderfully or fearfully made? Some comedians used to joke about it in their jokes about how wonderfully or fearfully made people are. I never paid attention to the words until recently. Below are the qualities of people that are wonderfully and fearfully made.

WONDERFULLY MADE
1. They smile often
2. They leave their personal needs just to meet the needs of others
3. They are vision driven
4. They are passion driven
5. They are humble
6. They honor their parents
7. They live self sufficient lives
Etc

FEARFULLY MADE

1. They are always angry
2. They don't care about others
3. They are driven by pride
4. They love to depend on others I.e they are parasites
5. They think they own the world
6. They are bossy
7. They always try to outsmart others even their friends
8. They are not teachable
9. They are wicked in their thoughts and actions
10. They don't regard their creator as Lord of their life

These are my opinions and I take responsibility
For them.

Where are the geeks

Some few months ago, it became the talk of the town in Benin City Edo state Nigeria that a young guy has produced an aircraft. The boy was shown on television as he made the little aircraft (a prototype) to fly around. Some years ago, I had also watched on TV a guy who claimed to have developed a jet engine which he claimed will fly faster than the normal jet. As I watched the recent guy demonstrate his innovation, I began to think of the fame and respect that this would bring to the country. But I paused in the midst of my thoughts to wonder about his innovation. Does he have the software to back up his hardware? What if he is only able to develop the hardware then where are the geeks?
Where are the geeks that are suppose to develop software applications that will help to drive the technology, agriculture, media, security, medical, pharmaceutical industries etc? Does Africa truly have software developers (not mediocre and script pirate) that will work with the hardware engineers to invent and innovate products that will take Africa to the place that God has ordained for us? After doing a little research on the internet and through books, I discovered that there are financial institutions e.g. banks, venture capital firms etc that have the passion and finance to finance those products but most of those engineers are only good in hardware but less in software.
As a young would be investor, (don’t doubt me) I would want to invest in ideas that can be produced 100% in Nigeria and not a product that will require us to import a part or two. The economy of Africa requires all aspect of professionals but most especially geeks (software developers). So my question is where are the geeks?
